Due to lots of work and excellent procrastination, I’m only just getting around to writing a blog post even though it’s now been a good two weeks since I actually went to Nashville. But I’m writing now, so that’s all that matters, right?!

I was invited over to stay with my friend- Alexandra, for the weekend in Tennessee, about 30 minutes out of Nashville. The drive down was very easy- 2 and a half hours pretty much just on two straight roads. The time was spent chatting, listening to good music and checking out the amazing scenery in Tennessee (seriously, it’s stunning). The leaves are slowly starting to turn golden so the woodland areas surrounding Alexandra’s house on the drive down were so pretty.

The weekend was the perfect mixture of chilled and sightseeing. I was straight away welcomed into Alexandra’s wonderful family- college is great as you are constantly surrounded by friends, but I’d forgotten how nice it is to be with a family too! I then experienced my first IHOP breakfast- cream cheese pancakes- and was converted, (England- step up your game) and was also taken to a Japanese steak house where they literally cooked the food right in front of you, as well as doing cool food tricks like setting the whole table on fire (I thought we were going to die). We also went to watch Alexandra’s niece play in a football match- or soccer as they say here, as football means American football. It was good fun and also extremely cute to see a bunch of 7 year olds playing football!

On Saturday evening we (Alexandra, her boyfriend Josh and myself) ventured into downtown Nashville. I’d hear a lot of good things about the place and I was NOT disappointed! The vibe was absolutely incredible. Every bar was filled with country music bands, and there were cowboy boots and hats everywhere I looked. At home the only time you see people in cowboy attire is for fancy dress parties so to see people actually wearing this stuff ‘seriously’ was really strange but really cool. I was extremely temped to buy my own pair of boots but they were very overpriced, and I could never imagine wearing them at back home- no one would take me seriously! We also did a quick stop into the Hard Rock Café. Although we didn’t eat there I was still able to look around. On all the walls were different outfits celebrities wore- Michael Jackson’s shoes, Madonna’s hat, Elvis Presley’s suit etc. etc. I was having way too much fun squeezing past people tables to get photos of them all, acting like a complete tourist, as everyone else ate their food seemingly oblivious to the crazy clothes around them. I did get mistakes for a waitress a couple of times however which is when I figured it was probably time to go.

Until the next blog post, here are some photos of the wonderful music city of Nashville:

(Nashville, I’ll be back!)
