2 WEEKS. That’s how long I have left until school’s over. So what better time to write a blog post than when you have finals coming up and papers and presentations to do that you’ve been putting off for the entire semester?!

I seem to have done quite a bit in the past month or so, whether that be travelling or just general college things. So first, let’s talk about travelling. On the way back to school from Winter Break me and a friend (Hey Mardi) were talking about how much we wanted to go to California (I know, typical right but c’mon it’s California.) and ended up finding super cheap flights to San Francisco. We discussed it a little, and then thought ‘hey why not?’ and booked flights for Spring Break then and there. March came around and off we went, and we ended up having the best week ever. It was pretty far from your typical crazy Spring Break- we spent most of the time exploring the city and, most importantly, eating a variety of delicious food that made an excellent change from UE’s canteen. I actually filmed a lot of our trip so as soon as I return home y’all can expect a video coming out. Easter was a couple of weeks later. I went up to Chicago to stay with a friend (Sup Jalen) and his family for the 3 day break with a couple of others from school, and it was also my birthday on Good Friday! I was surprised with balloons and cake and fake champagne (cos you know, drinking age and all that) and it was truly wonderful. That weekend i ate my weight in chinese food, discovered the joys of chucke E cheese, and celebrated the story of Easter with Jalen’s amazing family.

I briefly mentioned this in my last blog, but I’ve been doing a lil bit of acting too these past couple of months. I’ve been involved in ‘Richard III’- this year’s Shakespeare production, as the renowned role of ‘Nurse/priest/messenger’ ...oh yes. I’ve also been doing the music for the show on my viola alongside Taylor, a guitarist and fellow Native of the States- from Australia. We sit behind the huge wall at the back of the stage (funny how they stick the only two foreign kids in the department behind a giant wall where no one has to see them) and strum away. We were basically instructed to be as percussive and non melodic as possible, so maybe it’s a good thing the audience can’t see me wacking my viola around in the dark - it makes for quite a scene. Pardon the pun. Joking aside it’s been such a cool experience to be a part of, and I’ve learnt a heck of alot that I can’t wait to take back to England. (Expect the accent, think I’ll leave that behind.) I’ve also been involved in ‘Directing Scenes’- a completely new concept to me. Basically the juniors and seniors cast you in short scenes where they get to direct you as part of their class. It’s meant I’ve been able to work with a bunch of different people, something I always love to do, and means more ideas to take back hoooome!

It’s slowly dawning on me how little time I have left in the States, so I’m really just trying to make the most of every day here before I return home. It won’t be the end of the world when school ends though, since I’ll be heading back up to the beautiful city of New York (and hopefully washington too this time!) for a short while, and that’s definitely something to look forward too. Even if my bank account may say otherwise...

P.s. Here's a promo video from Richard since most of you probably won't be able to see it:
